Meet one of the coolest photographers in Montreal, Dariane Sanche.
Interview with the Ton Barbier.com blog – May 27, 2015
TonBarbier spoke to the It girl of the moment: Dariane Sanche. At only 22, she dominates the fashion market thanks to her fashion eye and her undeniable talent for bringing out the most beautiful of her models. Surprisingly, what sets Dariane apart is that she does not only deal exclusively with agency models. She photographs Monsieur and Madame Tout-le-monde and succeeds in making them look like Vogue Magazine.
How did you know you wanted to become a photographer?
In high school, I was not very good at school and I knew I would like to be able to work with my hands and be creative at the same time. At the age of 17, in my science class, a gang of girls needed photos for a project and since I was very good at Photoshop and my father had a great Canon camera, I volunteered for the photos. The result was great and I wanted to continue in this line.
Where do you get your inspiration from when you shoot?
It always depends on the model and the context. If this is a shoot with a specific client, like an agency or an actor for example, I am inspired by his face, his personality and the clothes at hand. As the models do not arrive wearing make-up, I can clearly see their facial features and know what will stand out well on camera. When I am creative, it’s another story… Often, I have bubbles inspiration and I write on paper the ideas that come to my mind so as not to forget them and to conceptualize them well thereafter.
What do you like most about your job?
When my photos produce the WTF effect! That is to say, when I pose a person who, at first glance, does not look like a mannequin and that with the right decor, a certain play of light, some instructions and the perfect angle , we manage to produce photos worthy of the biggest magazines. The person is super happy with the result and I take great pride in it!
We can see Dariane’s work for major Montreal agencies such as Folio, Next, Montage, Specs and Dulcedo in addition to several magazines. To see more of her wonderful talent and who knows, play one-day fashion, follow Dariane on Facebook and deviantart.com.
