Inspiration:
Since I started in photography I have been inspired by photographers Tim Walker and Tim Burton. They are photographers who create sets and cinematographic/theatrical images.
It’s been about 2 years since I had this conceptual idea of photoshoot. The title of this series is: “Lost in the wonderland”. It is the story of a young woman discovering an imaginary and magical world.
This first idea of photoshoot came to my mind at the age of 25. By brainstorming, I found on the internet a small floor lamp that looked like a mushroom. It’s funny to say since it starts from a lamp, but at that moment everything lit up in my head. I saw the whole scenario that I wanted to create.
Creative process:
During these two years when I had this idea in mind, I met creative peoples who wanted to invest as much as I in this project. So I presented my ideas to them, and then we started to put it forward. After making several drawings and sketches, I contact my team, and we start the creation of the sets and costumes. We have handcrafted all the sets and costumes presented in this photoshoot. I love creating artistic & magical settings.
We have created several different sets, including giant mushrooms which measure between 5 feet and 12 feet high. You can find these images on my Instagram account: ds_sanchez.
For the image in question with the smoke, I found this lighting a little by chance. I was photographing this look with smoke, and at one point, I opened the window blind. The combination of studio light with natural light and smoke and create this magnificent lighting.

Concept:
Kosi (the model) is such a nice and sweet model! After an all-day shoot with Kosi, I wanted to create an intense and powerful portrait. For the last look of the day, my idea was to create a special makeup on his face to create a warrior/soldier conceptual theme. To get this shot, I ask him to scream and look at the camera with intense eyes.

My idea:
I created this specific photoshoot for an Instagram Takeover. My goal was to show how it is possible to create a beauty shoot on a budget. During the takeover, I explain each step of the process. My good friend and makeup artist Marika D’Auteuil, bring some stuff from Dollar store (lace and pearl). She creates nice and clean beautiful makeup, adds the lace and pearl on the model face. I create this specific lighting to create a soft and cinematographic effect.

My concept:
That day, I was in the studio for the shooting of my portrait video, in collaboration with the Montreal filmmaker Maxime Toolsy. For the filming of my presentation video, I wanted to create an artistic and editorial photoshoot using different products and materials (diving mask, fashion glove, lace top). For this photoshoot, my goal was to create slightly more cinematic atmospheres and lighting.
